Frequently asked questions

Which companies are uncheatable?
There's no direct answer to this question. It depends on the way you are using the program and on the amount of real visitors your site gets.

Let me start with the means the program uses to simulate traffic. First off, it is very hard to detect cheating by just looking at the HTTP headers that the program sends or by implementing JavaScript protection in the banner code. These methods of protection can be overcome programmatically and as the program becomes more powerful with every new version, the harder it is for ad companies to fight it. The program simulates most popular browsers, operating systems, languages, correctly proccesses cookies, java scripts (most of them) and what not. Most of those settings are customizable and it is easy for the program user to set it up to current Internet statistics. So the only possible way to detect cheating is by tracking the visits made from public proxy servers. That is, the ad company must keep a list of currently accessible public proxy servers. Then the IP of every incoming HTTP request is compared against this list. If the percent of requests made via public proxies exceeds some ad companies defined value (say 20%) then the webmaster is considered to be cheating.

As far as I know the most "undesired" ad company for a clicker is Commission Junction. This company detects cheats very fast and most of those who tried to fool them failed. But I know a few guys who quite succeded by simply not being too greedy. They have a good sites with a good amount of real visitors. Say, if your site receives about 1000 visitors a day then it is quite safe to make about 500 (or even 1000) artificial impressions using Clicking Agent. This can double your revenue and keep you safe from being detected. Also a fresh list of proxy servers always helps a great deal. Usually it requires some time for an ad company to find new public proxies and add them to their tracking system. If you manage to find those proxies faster then you'll be a few steps ahead of them. But it's rather hard to do. Finding fresh proxies is still a problematic task which every program user has to solve on his own.

Well, summing up, you can cheat any ad company but only if you follow some reasonable precautions. As a webmaster you should be familiar with all the methods that can used to track artificial clicks. It's up to you to find right ways to go around them. And Clicking Agent can be a great tool in good hands.
